Our Roots
The Department of Chemical Engineering at Jadavpur University stands as Asia's oldest, a titan established in 1921 under the pioneering vision of Prof. H.L. Roy. For over a century, it has forged engineers, scientists, and champions.
The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) was founded on May 18, 1947 — days before Indian independence — with Jadavpur University at its heart. Our students' chapter carries that flame.

Chemathlon is the annual sports extravaganza of the IIChE Jadavpur University Students' Chapter. It is a celebration that transcends the classroom — a day where chemical engineers trade their lab coats for jerseys and compete with the same fire that drives their research.
